Service Days

Hello Crossroads Community!
Most of you probably heard my explanation of the service project during the worship service at Crossroads this past Sunday, and saw the pictures of what needs to be done.  For those of you who missed it, I included a few photos (see below). What's important for you to know is that we have been given a wonderful opportunity to be a caring community in our own neighborhood.  We will be doing weed removal, plant removal, bush trimming, tree trimming, log sawing, splitting, and stacking, chicken coop clearing, etc. for Susan and her daughter Kimberly.  They live on a 7 acre partial hill-side property at 761 LadyBug Lane.  This farm type property is in need of help due to the death of Susan's husband nearly 10 years ago, and her own degenerative disease condition.  Kimberly has been managing the property, but it's just more work than one person can handle. Some time ago, Kimberly started praying that somehow God would send them help, some time later they received an email from the Twin Oaks Valley Home Owner's Association that Crossroads Christian Reformed Church had contacted them and was offering assistance to anyone in need.  God Is Awesome!
We will be working at Susan and Kimberly's property on Nov.12 and Nov.19 from 8am-12:00 noon.  You can come for all or part of the morning.  We will have bottled water and cookies for any needed breaks throughout the morning. Pizza will be provided for lunch.
One way to contribute to the service project would be to help in the nursery at church to watch the little ones so that their parents can participate.  If you are willing to help with childcare, or are interested in having your little ones taken care of, please reply by emailing Kim or the church office with that information.  We do not recommend any children under Junior High age because there will be power tools and tractors at work.  There are also several different types of animals on the property including cows, a mean bull, horses, dogs, etc. and we don’t want anyone getting too close.  Even a Junior High child must be responsible and mature enough to stay out of the way of the equipment, and away from the animals.
Because of limited parking, we suggest you meet at church and carpool as much as possible.  There will be some parking along the side of the road on LadyBug Lane, once that is used up we will shuttle people the 1.5 miles back and forth from church.
