Crossroads Christian Reformed Church began in 1998. Here's who we are...
Crossroads
Describes where we each live—at the crossroads of life in Southern California. Work, school, home, cultural events, enjoying creation—in the crossroads of these places, God teaches us about ourselves, the world, and God's love and will for us.
Christian
Means that we are one small part of Christ's church around the world. We recognize as fellow Christians all people who accept Christ and the teachings of the Bible. We accept the Apostles' Creed—an ancient summary of the Christian faith. Most importantly, we believe that Jesus Christ is God the Son who died to save us (ask one of us what that means!). Now we live full of joy following Jesus because of God's love for us.
Reformed
Means that we were formed during the Reformation of the 1500s. Then, many Christians worked to "reform" the church to make it more faithful to the teachings of the Bible. Certain teachings of the Bible are especially important to us, that God is the ruler of all of creation (even our lives!), that the Bible is God's guide for our life, and that we are loved by God because of Jesus.
Church
Means that we aren't Christians by ourselves. God invites—even commands us!—to join with other Christians in order to become friends, help each other grow spiritually, learn how to love, and serve God together in the crossroads of our lives. There are over 1,000 Christian Reformed Churches in North America. And that's just a small part of all God's people all around the world.
