High School Youth Ministry
Will you join the Crossroads Prayerforce and pray for one of our youth? Goal: Have each of our middle and high school youth covered in prayer on a daily basis by matching one youth with one adult from our congregation. Requirements: v Pray daily for your youth Prayerforce partner. v Have contact with your Prayerforce partner at least two times per month to get to know him or her. (Contact can include: talking at church, a phone call, a note in the mail, an e-mail, a text, etc.) v Follow up with your Prayerforce partner about things happening in his or her life (i.e. “How did that test go?” or “What is happening with your team?”). v Send your Prayerforce partner a birthday card on his or her birthday. v Commit to a one year partnership (from January to January). Congregational Pledge at Baptism: “God helping us, we promise to receive these children in love, pray for them, help instruct them in the faith, and encourage and sustain them in the fellowship of believers.” Talk to Anna Vos or Danae Lapka with questions. Please submit the form below or let Anna Vos or Danae Lapka know of your interest.
An Overview of Youth Ministry at Crossroads Given the personality of the Crossroads CRC community, youth ministry has developed these characteristics…
The most effective way to disciple young people is to be personally involved in their lives. As fun as elaborate programming can be, in the end dynamic programs will only have a short-term effect if not followed by committed, honest relationship-building. Our goal as is to minister through mentorship. We seek to be candid and open about our relationship with God – our spiritual journeys and its ups and downs. In the days between large, group get-togethers, the the adult volunteer team will meet individually or with pairs of youth to talk about their lives and spiritual journeys.
Our group meets on Sunday evenings at the home of the youth leader. The meetings generally consist of a time of worship, Bible study, prayer, and games. This year we are using the study "52 Great Bible Studies" by Keith Stulp.
Acts of service can be a refining fire for our faith. For this reason our goal as a youth group is to be the hands and feet of Jesus. One way that we are seeking to do this is by participating in a food pantry organized by the church Mision Vida Nueva. This is the sister church of New Life Presbyterian Church. The food pantry is held at Pioneer School in Escondido. We participate on every fourth Saturday of the month
. This year the High School youth will be able to attend a mission trip through Youthworks. Students may spend all week at one ministry or switch between ministries during the week. Youth Work’s goal is to partner with local organizations and programs that seek to address the very basic needs of residents. Students may serve at places like: Children’s Programs, Elderly Centers, Soup Kitchens/Homeless Shelters and Thrift Stores. Youth Works cannot confirm until all groups arrive there what ministries the students will be a part of during the week. They ask that we come with a willing and flexible spirit The location for our trip this year is to be determined.
