High School Youth Ministry
An Overview of Youth Ministry at Crossroads Given the personality of the Crossroads CRC community, youth ministry has developed these characteristics…
Mentorship The most effective way to disciple young people is to be personally involved in their lives. As fun as elaborate programming can be, in the end dynamic programs will only have a short-term effect if not followed by committed, honest relationship-building. Our goal as is to minister through mentorship. We seek to be candid and open about our relationship with God – our spiritual journeys and its ups and downs. In the days between large, group get-togethers, the the adult volunteer team will meet individually or with pairs of youth to talk about their lives and spiritual journeys.
Bible Study The youth group as a whole meets on Sunday evenings. Meetings rotate – sometimes at different participants’ homes or in the youth room at Crossroads. The meetings generally consist of dinner (provided by parents on a rotating schedule), games, music, and an informal Bible study.
Students’ worlds can be very small, if not actively broadened. Through service and community outreach, Crossroads’ youth ministry aims to expand our students’ comfort zone and grow their faith and commitment to Christ-like service. One example of the youth doing this is through our involvement with Green Oak Ranch, an alcohol recovery residence in Vista. We visit the Ranch to play board and card games with the residents, and to participate in a Bible study led by a member of Crossroads. This outreach has been enthusiastically embraced by GOR residents, and the youth who have consistently participated have been blessed by the interaction.
It is our hope that your young people will find our youth ministry a loving and supportive place to safely experience new spiritual challenges and be transformed into a Christ-centered member of the church and global community.
